New BCS Poll

1) Louisville
2) Michigan
3) Rutgers
4) Ohio St
5) Florida

I think this looks good, Louisville clearly had the best week. OU and Michigan played nobodies and barely beat them..sad sad sad. I can
think of several one loss teams that would kill the pretenders known as OU and Michigan.

  • I'm pulling for Rutgers. If they upset Louisville(which, I believe they have a great chance at!) I hope they have a shot at a big bowl birth. Honestly, though I don't expect a national title bid. They just aren't looked upon in the same way that WV and Louisville is.

It has to help the Louisville/Rutgers winner that they will have impressive wins when the season comes. The big question is:

Does the Louisville/Rutgers winner play for the national championship? I think so

  • Honestly, Joe I don't think that even IF Rutgers wins next weeks matchup, they'll play for the National Championship. I, as a fan of Rutgers wish they do, but seeing how the BCS "system" has worked in the past and will continue to work, I highly doubt(and would be willing to bet against) Rutgers(while winning out) gets a National Championship bid. They are deserving(Check out they points allowed per and the rushing yards per game) but in my heart I feel they will be overlooked for a team that leads a conference that is "more deserving".

Only way Rutgers is in the national championship game is if they beat LU and win out while all the other top 5 teams lose at least one game. Their strength of schedule just isn't strong enough, and fairly or not, voters take that into account.

Beating Louisville, though, would certainly put them right in the mix at least, for a BCS bowl game, anyway.

Rutgers beat Illinois 33-0, The U had to hold off that same team from a big upset to win by only 7. If Rutgers wins out, they will have beaten a top
5 team twice. If the U wins out they will have beaten a top 5 team twice. I don't see any difference. OU had plenty of cupcakes
on their schedule, and looking at what Rutgers has done, they have dominated just about every game they have played.

Your #1 team, Louisville, beat Cincinnati 23-17. OSU beat Cincinnati 37-7, so OSU is better than Louisville, right?.

Should the #1 team in the land even be playing Cincy?? Florida plays FSU as their non-conf game, and you all are playing Cincy.

Thursday night, at Louisville or at Rutgers, OU loses both of those games.

  • Who cares, college football needs a playoff system, but the big wigs in the NCAA know better than we do, eh?

The NCAA def needs a playoff system(similar to the NCAA mens bkb tourney, but less obtrusive and expansive). If they'd only realize that the NCAA would make even MORE money off of a system like that, it'd be instituted. Until then, the BCS "system" will be talked about in a less than positive light.

  • I say, take the top 8 teams, make them play like in typical playoff format, i.e. #1 plays #8, #2 plays #7, and so on. Then let's see who is standing at the top, when it is time to crown a real national champion! Since Michigan will win it all this year, I see this being instituted next year, do not say you heard it from me.......but Ohio State is going down!

    Joe:

Illinois did not start Juice Williams at QB... the Illinois offense did nothing but turn the ball over in that game giving Rutgers scoring opportunities. In addition, Rutgers blew a 27-7 lead last year against Illinois and lost in OT 36-33. I think the Rutgers team remebered last year... they were up for the game, they played well and deserved to win. Rutgers has a fine team but I would not rank them in the top 10.

Comparing the Illinois- Ohio State game to the Rutgers- Illinois game really does not work. I believe this year was the second meeting ever between Rutgers and Illinois. Illinois and OSU have played 83 times over the past 100+ years. Rivalries are different.

It's great to speculate...let's just wait and see how the games play out. And besides, what does Oklahoma have to do with this?

The playoff system is a cop out. Why don't the best teams every year play other good teams during the regular season? Some teams
    do, others play cupcakes.

Man Joe, do you always talk out of your arse? Who does this anymore? Florida, the team you think is so great? They have played teams like UCF, Western Carolina and Florida State. As we know, all 3 of those teams suck. What about your team, FSU??? Troy (LOL), Rice, Western Michigan, then finally Florida. Who plays 2 really tough pre-conference games every year anymore?

HE is just sturring up controversy....OSU went to Texas the defending national title holders and wooped them on their home turf 24-7.....that team has not lost since...that was a non-conference game their joey...Finally...Ohio has tons of teams that OSU needs to play to share the wealth...Cincy, BG...all in state games that MUST be played. OSU will be playing Vtech and USC in the future and as such....is always looking for a high end non-conference game to play. Illinois almost beat wiconsin which played michigan tough and as you state is ranked #2...so is illinois better right now then they were at the beginning of the year?? Is illinois almost as good as michigan then?? Can a team get better? Is it possible for a great team to have an off game and still win?? Does that make a team great? OSU won on the road while having a horrible game...it pretty much guaranteed that a team will sit one game out a year and you hope they are talented enough to pull it through....i think that game was osu vs illinois this year....Guess what...we are still #1 and 10-0.
