Dealer Disdain

Why would an otherwise reputable dealer mail out a coin by simply putting it unprotected in a corrugated mailer and send it out in an envelope without no other protection. You would think that the coin would first be put in a flip or something before being put into the corrugated mailer. Who knows what the chemicals that make the corrugated sides stick to each other might due to a copper surface?
Un freakin' believable.

Someone who 1) isn't interested in your future business, and/or 2) someone who cares not a whit about coins.

Let them know you're not going to buy from them again, and let them know why. If they hear it enough, maybe a few will change their ways.... Just don't expect any satisfaction from the offending party....

The dealer may have someone doing their shipping that is either lazy or stupid.

At first I thought you were saying he just tossed the flip into the mailer with no wrapping around it, but lotsa folks do that (myself included, when in a rush). But you meant loose... au naturel... no flip or 2X2? Sheesh!

Not even a mummy-wrapping of Scotch tape? image

(Actually, I have had folks who should know better do that one...)

Yup, loose. I am perfectly happy with the corrugated mailers as protection for the coin, but I would hope that the coin itself was in some sort of a flip. The dealer in question deserves a flip.

  • A big dealer? Like have a shipping dept or an employee who does nothing but s/r? I've heard of a stand in for someone doing the shipping pull this. A friend of mine ordered a pack of notes from a currency dealer and they came the same way! No protection for the notes. Just put inside the sticky cardboard thing like you described. The dealer's responsible so no excuse. But it is a believable reason as to why it happened to him.

As noted in my other posting, the dealer in question here sent a note of apology. He said it should not have happened. Sounds like an employee who may not have been adequately instructed.
