Thanks for "The Glory of Their Times" recommendation!

I read on one of the threads about this book and I picked it up on Half.com for something like $5 shipped. It has been a great read so far! Thanks for those of you that recommended the book!
I think that I'm going to put together a "The Glory of Their Times" registry set for myself! Should be fun tracking down all of these turn of the century ballplayers that I've read about!

<< <i>But now, as if the book weren't enough, the tape recordings of the actual interviews are available in audiobook form. Each is introduced by Ritter, who came to know many of the players quite well. And in his introduction, Ritter reveals that it was only years after the project that it occurred to him that one of the things driving him was the death of his own father. Recapturing the memories of the players his father had loved served as a final filial connection. >>

So on the New York Giants in the early part of the last century you had Snodgrass's muff and Merkle's boner.
What a team!

And if you haven't read David Halberstamm's Summer of '49 you should add that to the list.

I'm now trying to figure out which cards I want to pick up of each of the interviewees. I think it should be fun.
It's going to be a bit of a mix and match for the cards, but there are at least 10 of the 26 that have T206 cards and another 7 of the 26 that have '33 Goudey cards. So, that takes care of over half of the 'set'.
Here's the list of the players.....
Rube Marquard
Tommy Leach
Davy Jones
Sam Crawford
George Gibson
Jimmy Austin
Fred Snodgrass
Stanley Coveleski
Al Bridwell
Harry Hooper
Joe Wood
Chief Meyers
Hans Lobert
Rube Bressler
Babe Herman
Edd Roush
Bill Wambsganss
Sam Jones
Bob O'Farrell

there is also a VHS tape from the PBS broadcast of a few years ago.
Its great w/ plenty of pictures of the players who were being interviewed
as well as the subject matter of great like Cobb, Mathewson & McGraw.
I had 2 copies and just sent my spare to MANTLEFAN as he started a PSA
registry set of the players in the book. He enjoyed the video as well.
Try eBay and you may be able to pick the video for $10-$20...jay

I hadn't even checked to see if there was a "The Glory of Their Times" registry until you mentioned something Jay. Frank started the set with interesting choices for the cards. Can those be changed at all? I'd want earlier issues of some of the choices made there. Any suggestions?

On a side note, I'm now reading "The Long Ball" which recounts the 1975 baseball season. Also a great read.
Jay, this set is weighted and I don't think you can change the cards in one day like the HOF sets which are not weighted.
Always looking for 1957 Topps BB in PSA 9!
