Off topic....again

Back begging for help. I asked this question on the light side, but as usual I didn't get a reply.

"I don't collect US coins but I got the following question in my forum:

Today i saw a 1954s US penny with the term Breen 2211 on the holder

What does that term mean excatly?

I think Breen is a known dealer but I could totally wrong.

Anyone willing to help me answer this question?"

Walter Breen is (among others) the author of the monumental US coins encyclopaedia.

Wayne, Walter Breen attempted to get the numismatic community to use his coin numbering system (ala Sheldon numbers for large cents, Cohen numbers for half cents, etc.) but is was a complete failure. Very few collectors ever use Breen numbers. Looks like the coin in question came from someone who actually used them, though.

And congratulations from me, too!!! image
