Ridiculous
"The league has fined Johnson $5,000 for wearing "Ocho Cinco" on a Velcro nameplate across the back of his uniform jersey before last Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. "Ocho Cinco," signifying his uniform No. 85, is the name by which Johnson said he wanted to be called the day leading up to the game. "
He brings fun and excitement to the game...and this is how its rewarded?
Absolutely ridiculous.

He didn't wear the jersey on the field...the 'name' was velcroed on and was ripped off prior to gametime.
Absolutely and positively ridiculous. 'No Fun League' indeed.

That's the whole point! If the NFL didn't care, Johnson's antics would lose some of its appeal.
A side note to Chad....eighty five in spanish is ochenta y cinco, not ocho cinco.

<< <i>5 grand is chump change for Johnson, and if anyone believes he actually cares about the fines or didnt know he would be fined they are being extremely naive. >>
Chad did it only because he knew it would make the front pages when the fine was handed down.

Lemme guess....you drafted Chad early in your fantasy draft????
If everyone decided to velcro somthing over their name it no longer is a uniform.
simple stuff actually.

<< <i>The rule he broke was he was out of uniform. >>
Not during the game, he wasn't. The patch was removed PRIOR to the game starting.
What, next, fining guys for their shirts getting untucked during game time?
No Fun League indeed!
Steve
why do you insist on RUINING every single damn thread with your petty arguments?
I am out of this thread before you have a chance to ruin it.
He did nothing wrong, he got the attention he wanted, and he was fined for no good reason. $5k to him is well worth the publicity.
I'm done here....now let's see if wp can keep his mouth shut, too.
That's a good one, Axhole, seeing how you post like a trained seal your asinine observations!
In fact, I can hear you clacking away right now.

Actually, I passed out before my draft lol. Luckily for myself, somehow I did well lol!! I'm a fan of Chad Johnson's, but the fact is he's a big talker and so far this season he hasn't backed it up. I'm all for the entertainment value of the league, outside the fact that I root for my NY Giants to kick arse. Luckily for me this season(as I live in DC) I've been able to wear my Giant Blue at all the local pubs and talk up the Giants while talking down the Skins/Cowboys fans(which are more than plentiful). My fantasy team is as follows
QBs-Eli Manning, Damon Huard, and Chad Pennington
RBs-Clinton Portis, Warrick Dunn, Brian Westbrook, and Lawrence Maroney
WRs-Torry Holt, Derrick Mason, Amani Toomer, and Troy Williamson
TEs-Alge Crumpler, Bubba Franks, and Daniel Graham
Def-Indy and Philly

Actually, players have been fined in the past for not having their uniforms to league standards(as in, shirts untucked).

Nice Draft, I like Chad Johnson myself and think alot of his stunts are funny, I stated earlier that I do enjoy most stuff like that but in no way do I agree with T.O type garbage.

Well, it wasn't all draft but I did make some more than appealing trades and waiver wire pickups. Still just middle of the pack fantasy league wise, but eh it's my first year of actually playing fantasy league. So, I'm not doing bad in my book.
