for the most part turkey uses latin letters now

If I'm not mistaken, Ataturk replaced use of arabic script with the Turkish alphabet after the fall of the Ottoman Empire after WW 1. Also, Turkish, not Arabic, is the official language of Turkey. Turkish and Arabic are not even in the same language family.
