As many long time CU members know, I post an annual message on this date.

Seven years ago today (All Saints Day), we lost not only a great running back but a great human being. Walter Payton passed away, but his legacy lives on.

Last year, I read his book, and was so moved that I donated a ton of toys to the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation.

I encourage many to do the same.

Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

  • Today is my dad's birthday, he passed away on Oct. 13, 1990. Two good men, Payton and my father, share a date in some capacity!

Oct. 13, 1990, Michigan Wolverine football fans know that happened on that day, what a travesty of justice!
  • 14 years ago today. Just remembering Walter.

Great post. Sweetness was always my favorite player when I was a kid. His heart and determination on the field were unmatched. I listened to the audio version of the book Never Die Easy. What was truly amazing about that format is they got a lot of the actual people to read their own parts. So you not only hear a lot of Walter (obviously), but Matt Suhey, Mike Ditka, etc. Often an audio version of a book is read entirely by the author or a trained voice actor.
