Why would a Planchet Flaw be reason for a BB? So if a coin has a lamination error they won't slab it? What about a carbon spot on gold?

But they came from an estate sale, from out of Grandpa's attic...what could be wrong with that?

Would it be silly to assume the customer knew about the problems, but sent them for authenticity?

I would imagine that an altered coin would be bagged for altered surfaces or not authentic ahead of being bagged for planchet flaws and cleaning.

Yes, it would be silly, since the body bag ticket that comes back with the coins indicates nothing about authenticity, and the market does not accept them as indicators of anything, not to mention the fact that you could never prove that they 'belonged' to a particular coin.

Not my submission, nor do I have any clue who the owner is. This was merely one of the numerous "shared" submissions that are available on the PCGS website. No photos attached, just grade results.

Because many borderline/?AT coins are resubmitted for additional grading fees.

.............I agree if they are bodybagged it would be nice to be authenticated even if it only gives the submitter peace-o-mind.

I was so discouraged my last submission for merc dimes. I have not sent in anything but moderns since. Improper cleaning on all. I have had them for 40 years just sitting in a coin folder. I never touched them myself.
