Minor Teletrade rip. Whatcha think, Frankie fans?

image

Won this last night for $33 shipped. Old NGC fatty (they didn't designate FBL back then). I'm pretty sure it's not a Bugs Bunny, but there's a mark on the holder where the clash would be...that would be a nice bonus. Looks to be nice mint set toning too.

Looks like a good possibility of a Bugs Bunny actually (looking at the DjVu imaging). When I saw your posted image I thought there would be no way it could be FBL. The closer look does suggest it as remotely possible as the plastic is clearly a mess, obscuring what detail is there. Good pick up whatever the verdict.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'll post better pics when I get the coin. Knowing Teletrade pics well, I'll bet the color is much better than the pics too.

Brings up a good question about die clashes on the 55 Franklin.

I have a couple in MS condition and it is very obvious that the "Bugs Bunny" teeth are there, but they also show the after effects of die polishing to remove the clashing.

Are there any out there that were released prior to the die polishing? (and if so, what do they look like/)

I thought NGC used the FBL designation on Franklins since they opened?

I think it wasn't until 1996 or so. I sent an email to NGC asking this question and will post when/if they get back to me.

They did not grade FBL from the start.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

Not very specific, but certainly well after they began operations.
