Woo Hoo - Interesting Jefferson Find!

While browsing through some nickels I got at the bank this afternoon, this one grabbed my eye!

There is a HUGE die crack (NOT - Its a Defective Planchett line) that runs through the steps and up to the roof of Monticello.

I wish I could have found this puppy before it hit the circulation circuit!

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

The name is LEE!

Die crack or not, just finding one with that many steps in circulation is a great find! Don't think I have ever found any 50's Jefferson's with more than 2 steps in circulation and I have been saving them since early 80's and before.

I have a 1958-D with the same cracked die location, but yours is very pronounced!

    Nice find.

    Cool.

I love different/interesting coins- and that one qualifies on both countsimage

Is that line raised? Most die cracks extend to the rim. Could it be a defective planchet?

I have quite a few coins with die cracks that don't go all the way to the rim.

Do you have any pictures? Do you have any with a large crack?
