Its funny how doing a player or set registry changes your focus

Before I started my Emmitt set I would buy whatever psa graded card I liked. Emmitt, Troy, Michael, Faulk, whatever. If it was a rc of a good or even decent player I would buy it. The one stipulation was that it had to be a 10! The same thing went for my subs. I would never send in anything unless in my mind it was a 10.
Now I am focused on my Emmitt set and find myself buying 8's and 9's as long as it is a low pop card. Shhh! I even bought a 6 but dont tell anyone. Now I am putting together my next sub and it consist of cards that will grade from 8 to 10. If the card isnt too beat up or its a card I just like, in the sub it goes. One bad corner, who cares, throw it in.
I just find it funny how doing a registry of a player you really like changes the way you collect.

I hear you - and I'm not even doing a registry set. I've come to really like the PSA holders - just sent a bunch of 50's and 60's stars (Drysdale, Snider, Maris, Aaron etc.) some that I know won't even be 8's, but I'd rather have a 6 or 7 than raw cards.
I'm surprised there's any Emmitts left that you don't have.
Oregon State 33 USC 31 - I love it!
I couldn't imagine how great it would be to collect cards from your own son/grandson dad or grampa
Collecting:
Brett Favre Master Set
Favre Ticket Stubs
Favre TD Reciever Autos
Football HOF Player/etc. Auto Set
Football HOF Rc's
<< <i>I would agree. But no one can predict if a card you send in will be a 9 or 10 >>
True, but if you do it long enough you pretty much know that the card will grade.
Did you get that scan I sent you?
