Is it me or is LaRussa looking more and more like Joe Torre as he gets older? LOL

I have no problem with the Cardinals winning. La Russa is a mastermind of a manager--I always thought so. He had this coming for a long time. Too bad Andy Van Slyke could not enjoy this moment.

From LCS MVP to zero for the series?

Not high on my list of stellar performances - there's plenty of goat to go around for the Tigers - including fundamental playing errors by the pitching staff.

But, he's the goat that stuck out the most.

If he's one of your favorites? This is all in fun.

I guess I get a little sensitive when it come to Polanco,No he isnt my favorite not even close however without him I am not to sure the Tigers would have been able to make it to the Big Show.I have to believe he was not very healthy during the Series but gutted out anyways. The entire fact is that the Tiger Ball Club just wasnt ready to reach the top as of yet.

Mike your an OK guy in my book, these are just opinions that we are sharing and that was mine.

I had some good runners up but when a guy rolls a big goose-egg?

Reminds me of when Willie Stargell went 0-17 in the 79 WS - but they still won.

I agree - with players - it's what got them there that counts - but the WS spotlights the players frozen in the moment - if you know what I mean.

But, I wouldn't give any of them the grand title of: Mr Oct-Never - that's reserved for Arod.

  • Stargell went 12-30 with 3 HR and 7 RBI in the '79 World Series vs. Baltimore. He did struggle in the '71 LCS vs. San Francisco going 0-14 with 6 strikeouts and then went 5-24 in the '71 World Series.

Polanco did get robbed a couple of times. But an O'fer for the LCS MVP is tough.

Not just you. It crossed my mind last night.

And I don't know how one could select a single goat for Detroit. But the collective defensive ineptitude of the pitching staff certainly warrants some kind of dubious honor.

Sorry about the misquote of stats
I was going on faint memory and not a Pirates fan
I do remember him looking like a goat somewhere in the 70s?
