Winters descibes the commonly seen color of this date as a "medium orange-gold hue."

Could have been lightly cleaned at some point.....and is now developing a nice skin........can't tell off that image though. In hand it probably looks just fine...........

Is that how a mint mark "O" appears on the reverse...looks kinda washed out? dunno, don't do gold.

The mint mark placements are all over the place on N.O. quarter eagles. It's interesting to see the variations, even among the same date.

Looks like a nice coin. May have been lightened at one point. Not "black-and-gold", but I would not kick it out of my collection, either.
