Isn't sending a Mint-sealed package asking for trouble?

When you send a Mint-sealed box, you don't know what's in it. It could be somebody's crappy returns, or the wrong amount, or the wrong order altogether. And isn't your receipt in there, too? Doesn't your receipt offer some level of protection? Geez, maybe the recipient will assume your identity and have you killed!

I know PCGS couldn't care less, because it's no hair off...but what about an Ebay buyer? How in the world can you offer return privileges? The buyer could tell you he found a dead hedgehog and nothing else in the box.

What are the usual procedures for such a thing????

Yep, I was pretty uneasy about sending the sealed box. But gave it a shot anyways. Still haven't got my results back yet....... (hopefully, they will send back all the original boxes, receipts, etc.)

It would not be someone's crappy return. I've ordered from the mint for years and I can tell you, the crappy stuff you get isn't someone elses... it's yours. That's a quality control issue. If you ever sell on ebay, you give your pertinent information to a seller. Yes your receipt offers you protection as well as exposure. If someone wanted to single out a person and kill them...well that's a moot point.
You do not know PCGS cares less , why do you say that ? If you want to offer return priveleges, it's a choice. If the buyer lies and says he didn't get what was supposedly in the box, ask him to read off your US MINT paperwork and call you.... He knows where you live.

There are no USUAL procedures except to write a disclaimer should you choose to sell US MINT SEALED packages.
Good luck, it sounds like a crap shoot image

  • So are you buying or are you selling this box???

    If you are buying

assume that it is sealed as well as the mint sets you see on FleaBay
    {steamed open and then resealed??}

    If you are selling

Is there really that big a cost difference to let someone else open your order from the mint?

I suppose that they are going to try and send it to the TPG and recieve FS with your order?

Are you going to make enough to assume the risk?

Ding! There's your Post of the Week, folks.

    Guys,
Look ONE year into the future. Do you REALLY think these so called FIRST STRIKE labels on THESE coins will make the slabs MORE valuable than the same coins without the first strike labels. Would YOU pay more for YOUR own collection? Going thru this hassle with unopened mint packages is just BS in my opinion.

Editied to add: And these are not even in the registry sets. The only registry set First Strike coins are 2005 and 2006.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
