Except it is to late for First Strike, sealed box or not.

Dated 10/21: As of today, only the Reverse Proof Silver American Eagles in unopened boxes are eligible for the 20th Anniversary Set First Strike designation, and the deadline for those is November 11th. Unopened boxes of ASE sets with postmarks prior to today are still eligible for the First Strike designation.

  • If my sets are postmarked in December, can I get the "Last Strike" designation?

Could you imagine the fury of collectors telling the US Mint to slow down the delivery of their new coins????

Not true, if the box is sealed and there's a postmark on the box, then it can be submitted at any time for "First Strike" designation.

But, wasn't the First Strike designation available for the first 30 days after the sets started being shipped?
It hasn't been 30 days yet

Which post mark is Ron referring to, from the Mint or from your house??? Good question. Either way, it would seem that only the first shipment would be eligible as they are the only ones that would have a post mark prior to 10/24/06.

If the post mark from the mint is before 10/24/06 for gold it can be sent unopened forever and egt 1st strike.

For silver unopened sets postmarked from mint before 11/11/06

I read it as this is only for the Rev. Pr Silver.

"only the Reverse Proof Silver American Eagles in unopened boxes are eligible for the 20th Anniversary Set First Strike designation, and the deadline for those is November 11th."

I'm only interpreting what I read, but the way I read it is the other two coins in the unopened Silver box will not be First Strike, but will be Anniversary.

This is all getting very confusing image

The whole point behind this "sealed Mint Box" stuff was to keep unscrupulous individuals from slipping in some older 2006 uncirculated SAE and 2006 Proof SAE for First Strike and 20th Anniversary Set Designation. The First Strike designation was for coins delivered (shipped from the mint) within 30 days of their release date. That date doesn't come up until 11/11/2006 so I really do not know what Ron is referring to.

It seems to me that if you send in your mint sealed box that has a mint ship date of before 11/11/2006 that you should qualify for the First Strike 20th Anniversary Labels.

Without quoting Ron, what exactly am I missing here? image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
