Who's minding the store at the US mint??

Regarding the SF commem coins, they have completely lost it now.

The sent me a mail message that the commem shipped out FedEx and even provided a tracking number.
The tracking number had no associated data, neither the mint nor FedEx could explain that.
Today (a full week later) the commem arrived via US Mail.

Apparently the controls are not in place to know what's going on.

This is absolutely incredible that something like that could happen.

Had the coin taken one more day to come in, I was going to contact my CC company and contest the bill for that coin.
Their sloppy records keeping could have caused a fairly sticky problem.

So, you would have taken it up with your CC company a week after you didn't see it from when you expected it?
    Not jumping the gun?
USPS insurance asks for 1 month, right?

Not saying things couldn't have gone better but you had time and could have contested it even a few weeks later, so it just seems a bit anxious....

Glad it arrived though. Hopefully it is a nicely struck one image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

When there was absolutely no information in the FedEx tecking site using the tracking number they gave me, I assumed that it was an immediate 5 finger discount.

I would have told my Cc co, that a theft had occured between shipper and shipping agent because that's what was aparent.

If they had given the correct infromation that it was mailed USPS there would have been no problems waiting long enough, but since they said it was FedEx, I believed them.

Uhhhh...huh..huh! The Mafia? Tickle Me Elmo?
Green blonde bimbos from outer space? Is this a trick question? Okay...end of sarcasm.

Most of us who ordered SF Gold Commems are in the same boat!

  • Tom,

Glad you got your coin and hope it was in the capsule safe and sound. My Unc. was in the same situation as your coin, but I was not home, which made it worse, and it was in the mail when my wife got it on Monday.

I asked the mint to mail my three ASE sets, as we would not be home to receive them from Fedex. They were mailed on the 13th of Oct. and when I checked on them on the 23rd of Oct. they were in Louisville, KY. They had gone about a 100 miles in 10 days. image The USPS did not know where they were, but my mail lady delivered them the next morning.image

I think that the problem may lie on lack of communication between the Mint and the fullfilment center in Memphis???

It's run by a warden.... now instead of license plates, the prisoners make coins.

It seems these commems are jinxed or something. Get this, I returned mine Monday. Priority Mail, insured with delivery confirmation. I checked the confirmation # today and it showed the package is at Richmond virginia, not Memphis, TN, Richmond VA.

Priority mail and on day 4 it's in Richmond. Why in the heck did it go to Richmond? Isn't that a little out of the way from Memphis? If it gets lost...image
