"The War at Home" - How is this still on TV?

Last night was the first time I watched that and I am puzzled how that show is still on the air.

Valid point. I watched half of one of the first episodes and thought for sure it would be gone in no time. I shake my head every Sunday wondering how it is on the same night as The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad.

The show is crude, stupid and vulgar which means it fits right into the Fox network programming mindset
(as seen by the list of shows in the previous message).
  • And while we're at it? What does it say about North America when four times as many people are watching "Dancing With The Stars" than "Friday Night Lights"? "Friday Night Lights" is another fabulous show that will likely win an Emmy next year, but will likely be off the air before then.

Friday Night Lights is being moved to a 10 PM timeslot and then back to its original time as NBC is desperately trying to find an audience for it. I don't think it will last through the end of this year. image

Yes but it should at least be mildly funny.

I sure hope your not knocking the educational values the other 3 shows can instill in our children. image

FOX has a tendency to kill of great comedies (family guy, andy richter controls the universe, arrested development) and replace them with mindless, terrible shows.

ON THE NEXT WAR AT HOME All-New Episodes Return Sunday Nov. 5th 9:30/8:30c

    Guest Starring Seth MacFarlane!

“I Wash My Hands Of You”
Hillary dupes her parents when she introduces them to a classmate she’s pretending to date, but ends up going out with a much older guy. Her plan backfires when the “good kid” ends up in the hospital after a drug overdose. Having reached his limit, Dave tells her she is responsible for herself and he and Vicky wash their hands of her. Without boundaries, Hillary is thrilled until she starts to worry that her parents don’t care about her. She winds up coming home well before her curfew. Not realizing that Hillary came home early, Dave and Vicky start freaking out when she’s not back by 2am. When they discover her asleep in her bed, Vicky and Dave take the responsibility back which makes Hillary happy because to her it means they care. Meanwhile, Larry gets addicted to Vicky’s nicotine gum and Dave catches Vicky smoking.

Sure looks interesting and entertaining to me. I plan on dropping everything when this show comes on to thoroughly enjoy the spectacular writing and wonderful humor which this show represents.

Unbelievable. Why is it so hard for a quality program to survive these days? I've heard that "The Office" - the best comedy, in my humble opinion - on T.V. is also suffering in the ratings.

And whatever happened to showing "This Week in Baseball" or the 1974 World Series during rain delays anyway?

Was that the greatest show ever or what? Just the closing of the show was worth seeing. The highlight of Dave Parker throwing an aspirin from the warning track to home plate in the all-star game was better every week.

It is what called "tenting" where the programmer inserts a show with lower rating, but simlar style, between two higher rated programs. The research indicated that people just "leaving the TV on" counts as veiwer ship. Now, I Love the aforementioned three and dont really care for War at home, but people usually just leave the show on...prolly anyone who was seen it by accident. image
  • its generally a crappy show, as are most sitcoms on Fox. (family guy and simpsons are the rare exceptions)
the broader audience typically can't handle intelligent, well written, emmy winning shows like Andy Richter or Arrested Development (perhaps the best written comedy i've ever seen on "network" Tv), the Office comes pretty close, so at least I have that watch....sigh.
