XanaduNow .... you sucked me in!!!!!!

XanaduNow ...

I've been reading the threads lately and noticed on more than one occasion you mention BBCE.... I've never ordered anything from there, though I have been a part of some of the recent group rips that bought product from Steve.

Anyway .... your posts got me thinking about it ---- next thing I know I'm on Steve's site and end up purchasing over $100 of product. I've got an '85 Topps football rack pack, two '89 score football packs, and an '89 Score football factory set.....

As I browsed the selections ... I found myself almost losing control ... especially in the hockey section ... luckily most of the hockey product I was interested in was a bit on the higher side.

... You've been an influence, my friend ----- hopefully when I rip I'll get some good luck!

  • Tom,

Sorry. image Welcome to the club. I didn't start it, someone else did. But now that you're here, enjoy!

For the record, it was Zef that unknowingly got me onto the BBCE website. He made an '82 Topps FB box break one night that included some '81 Topps FB racks, if I remember correctly. It's been all down hill ever since. image

Browsed BBCE again tonight ... ended up over at dacardworld and their "free shipping" for orders over $150 completely sucked me in .....

Obviously, I'm a big believer in 90/91 hockey --- several key RCs of surefire future HOFs. At $5-6 per box for both Canadien Score and French UD, you can't go wrong.

The Howard the Duck and Pee-Wee cards ... uh .. uh ... yeah, I have a definite problem. I am a sick, sick man.

    You started this Arthur!!!!!!!!!

  • Rec'd my package from BBCE today .... some nice looking packs, along with a complete Score Factory set. Pulled the Aikman from the set -- it looks great. The Sanders wasn't as nice, but should pull quite a few PSA 10s out of this set (hopefully) ....

  • Okay .... busted the two Score packs. As you may recall, I've decided to attempt to build the complete set in high grade (with possible intention to submit to PSA) ....

Overall, got 8 "gradeable" cards that I feel should get PSA 9 with a hope for a 10. Of those 8, four are scanned below:

    image

    Not bad for 2 packs.

Though, at $7 per pack, it's probably more economical to just purchase factory sets --- or just buy PSA 10s outright off ebay. Then again, the entertainment value in pack busting just can't be beat.

This is worse than cocaine ... seriously.

  • Okay ... couldn't resist ... busted the '85 rack as well....

    image

A little disappointed with this rack, though I guess I don't have much to compare it to. Pretty sure I got at least a few potential PSA 9's, but the condition wasn't stellar. Nothing matched the Howie Long I pulled during the group football bust. I also really wanted a Moon and would have settled for a Payton, Marino, Elway, or Montana --- and came up empty on all.

Still, for $16 it was fun. Arny or anyone else looking to build this set let me know. I'll glady trade them for something I'm working on (such as high grade '84 Donruss baseball).

Okay, 2:00 AM out on the west coast... gotta get to bed eventually...

Tom, I'm waiting to see how a couple of '85s that I submitted end up. I thought that they had outside shot at 10s....so, they'll probably be 8s image

Depending on those few, I might be interested in getting some of those from you to submit.
