I apologize for helping to create the term "modern crap".

I didn't really mean to-- it was an accident.
Way back in the early days of the Long Beach show I made a mistake that I have yet to live down. At the 1966 show I asked around for high grade examples of the new "modern" clad coins for my collection. Due to my heavy Japanese accent at the time, the first dealer I inquired to thought I said I was looking for "modern crud" (I couldn't distinguish between "L" and "R" back then). He had a big laugh over it, and he told his dealer friends about this short, fat, Japanese guy who collected modern crud. As the story spread like the game of telephone, the details changed. Soon the word went around that an Oriental guy collected "modern crap", and every show I went to after that I was met with a grin every time I asked for clad coins.
It was entirely unintentional, and I apologize if anyone was offended by my mispronunciation so many years ago.

<< <i>I think you should send out apology coins to everyone right away! >>
No, only to those who actually collect modern crap.

NICE!!!
You realize that at the time you made that statement (you say it was 1966), I wasn't even around to be called "modern crap" myself?
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
<< <i>I can understand your difficulty with "L's" and "R's" and your explaination and apology was a wonderful, refreshing read. However, for some dealer to make a running joke out of someone collecting "modern clap" is totally insensitive.
Unlike the Classic Clap, the Modern Clap has no known cure !
