Does anyone know how many pieces there are in the John J. Ford Collection?

I'm on a Virgil Brand kick of late, and he had a few hundred thousand pieces in his collection. I know the Ford collection is huge, but I don't recall ever seeing a total piece count. Does anyone know how his collection compares to Brand's (in total numbers)?

I'm not sure even Stack's knows. I think the family just keeps sending them stuff.

Ford's collection was not as big as Brand's collection in # of specimens, of that I am sure. I believe Brand had in the hundreds of thousands.

Ford's collection was more focused and Ford was a true collector and Brand was more of an accumulator, although he had spectacular items.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
