My daughter saved me $80K this week!!

Where to start...a 17 year old daughter who wants to go off to school next year for pre-med....average cost $40K+ a year (tuition and room board and books)....then she's on her own for her Masters degree..

Living in 2 house holds...it's easy...$80K for each myself (and my wife)...$80K for my ex-wife and her hubby. OUCH...that's alot of cardboard to move!!

Well...she comes in this week with the results from here State exams (MCAS)...seems she scored in the Mastery division (top 90 something percentile).. in all subjects..Math/English/Science.

Kinda like the gram slam special...so to speak...

Compiled with the fact the she has a 96 average through high school and is sitting #4 or #5 in her class....

Drum roll............

Because of her achievements....she needs to fill out a paper for the state...and will be granted free tuition to any state college or university here in MA.

Now..she can stay close...commute if need be...or come home on the weekends...and it will be a fraction of the costs.

It may not be a total of $40K savings...but it will surely make it easier and alot more affordable on us!!

SWEET!!

Now....what can I buy?? wax...sets..vintage..grade 8,000 cards...or maybe a Hummer???? lol

That's great 5STAT. What is the secret to your daughter's great achievements? I have a four month old daughter and would like to save on college tutition in another 17-18 years.

I would grade the 8000 cards, they might help pay for grad school.
  • she studies hard...had alot of natural ability (for me...lol)....and has a personality that demands the best for herself....

now...I have one in 8th grade...that well, maybe she'll get a free ride for soccer...won't be for grades...lol

and the little one...grade 6...wants to be like her big sister....striving for straight A's too....

    who knows...maybe 2 out of 3....

  • Congrats 5! You definitely have something to be proud of there.

My daughter is about 6 weeks into her college career. She's at BC and loving it. It's costing pops about 46K per. (Minus what the school kicks in). The kicker is her brother is two years behind with his eyes on MIT. I'll be selling my whole collection to finance both. I'm figuring 250-300K by the time all is said and done.

Maybe when we're 75-80 they'll throw us in a decent home? image

Best of luck and congrats again, Bob C.
