Guess the grades on my PCGS order (grades revealed)

Coin 1: MS62. WTF??? crrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaacccccccckkkkkkkkkk!
image

Coin 2: MS64 (previously NGC MS64)
image

Coin 3: Altered Surfaces (will send to NGC)
image

Coin 4: MS65FBL
image

Coin 5: MS65
image

Coin 6: MS63. Great image for color but it does hide some cheek nicks. Bought as an NTC MS63.
image

Coin 7: MS65 Coin looks more baggy in photo, but has awesome reverse color!
image

Coin 8: MS65 Holdered reverse up, looks better than the photo indicates (believe it or not)
image

Coin 9: PR66
image

Coin 10: Questionable Color. I dunno, I'm on the fence on this one, I think it's gradeable really if I send it to NGC.

    1. 66- Somewhat indistinct strike in tail feathers, color a plus. Very clean.

    2. 66FH- Very mark free except for one hit on Liberty's left leg. Not a full strike (shield rivets) but looks to be FH. Nice and lustrous.

    3. 64BN- Deep toning with a hint of blue, some surface spotting. Could be a 65 BN.

    4. 64- No FBLs, heavy bag marks on obverse. Bump for reverse color.

    5. 64 FBL- Some heavy marks on obverse, looks like good bell lines.

    6. 65 PL- Lovely obverse toning, Liberty's cheek is quite clean. Reverse definitely looks PL.

    7. 63- Heavy die wear, clearly LDS. Plus a soft strike. Nice color on the reverse.

    8. 66 FBL- Excellent toning on both sides, very mark free. It looks to be FBL, but the picture is a tad overexposed in that area.

    9. PF68- Very nice surfaces, appear to be hairline free.

    10. 65 RB- Some reverse spotting, uneven toning, but very mark free.

    How'd I do?

Let me start by saying I'd be proud to have any of them in my collection.image Very nice pic's too! Let me give this a shot:

#1 - Great color and lustre. I can see it in a 67 holder. Probably 66 though.

    #2 - Man I love this one. I'll go with 64, non-FH.

    #3 - Another super coin! I'm guessing 64 BN.

#4 - Super reverse and could go 65 FBL.

    #5 - Big hit near the chin, 64 non-FBL.

#6 - Not a Morgan fan but great color on this one. Clean cheek, looks like a 65.

    #7 - Looks like too many hit's for a 65, 64 not FS.

    #8 - Very, very nice, 66 FBL

    #9 - Super color for a Proof, PR67.

#10 - Nice coin but the hit on the cheek and some carbon has it in a 64 RB holder.

All just WAG' on my part. Super group though and congrat's regardless the grades.

1.)65, cant tell some of the "hits" im seeing are toning lines or not
2.)bb- questionable color, i am saying this because i am really bad at this series, the coin looks fine to me, but it might have to many colors for pcgs' liking
    3.)65bn
    4.)65fbl and nice color
5.)65 fbl, i think pcgs says all 58-ds are full bell
    6.)64
    7.)63
8.)66 fbl nicest bs franklin of the bunch
9.)pf68, proofs are tough for me
10.)ms65rb i like the woodgrain look, i wouldnt be surprised if it was a 66 i only see two hits on the whole coin, but it doesn't wow me either

Don't take my grading as "informed" as its still a guess on my part:

    #1 MS65 Great toning
    #2 MS64 Great toning
#3 ??? I can't grade copper, but that 300 degree die crack is WAY COOL
    #4 MS63 Great toning
#5 MS63 Super coin, but that hit on his cheek might drop it 2 grades, otherwise its at least a 65+
    #6 MS64
#7 ??? Don't know how to grade it but its WAY COOL TOO. Is that die clash? or ???
    #8 MS65
    #9 PR66 Great toning
#10 ??? I can't grade copper, but think it might come back altered surface, maybe??? I hope not.

Those are all beautiful coins and I'd be proud to own any of them.

Congrats and best wishes on the submission !!!

The large cent should go 65 BN -- 64 if the spots show worse in-hand...Mike

All I can say is I love the pictures you took. That Large Cent is sweet. I love the die cracks on it. The proof Frankie has neat speckled toning on the reverse. Nice coins.

    Nice images Robert!

Am I allowed to guess on the Standing Quarter and Indian Cent?image
  • Im really curious on the Jeff. Nickel grade. It's not full steps... it's looks like its got some hits and dings... Ms-64 is my guess on that one.

Love the color on the Franklins. image and the die cracks on the large cent!

  • 1) Hard to grade from image. Prolly 65 or 66 depending on what's going on in the right obv field. (Possible BB for QT)

    2) Cool! MS64.

    3) 64BN.... I don't know squat about these

    4) MS66. No FBL in todays atmosphere!

    5) MS66 FBL. Hit be damned...PCGS loves these!

    6) 65. Normally a 64 for strike, but bump for color and ulta clean revese. Cool clash!

    7) MS64. Nice coin, but they are brutal on these!

    8) MS65 if the obverse has diminished luster under the left obv. MS66 if the flash still shows well.

    9) I wont even try to grade a Proof from a pic, but certainly has 68 appeal.

    10) 65RD... another wild guess... not my series

bodybag on the indian cent and large cent

if they look exactly in hand like they do in the photos
  • michaelmichael Posts: 9,524 ✭✭✭
large cent cleaned and recolored and the indian cent cleaned and naturally retoned

maybe pcgs will slab both but the above still stands

now site seen might be different as photos are not the best

    just based on the photos

I won't comment on all... just the 1954 Jefferson. I just do not see this date with such detail within the Monticello. Based on the image, doesn't make Full Steps, but still looks quite nice and should be worth some premium. I would grade it 65.

I like the 1919 SLQ... toough to grade from the image... perhaps 64.

okay... I will finish what I started

    1. 65 nice coin
    2. did that one stand by that assessment
    3. BB is possible for color, but I am going out on a limb with 62 brown
    4. 63 which sounds harsh, but the foreheads hits are a distraction for me
    5. 64
    6. 64
    7. did that one stand by the grade
    8. 65 but 66 would not be a surprise- nice coin
    9. PR64 with a different look which I kinda like
    10. This is a tough call. I would rather see it in hand first... but then again, so would everyone else... BB is possible for color, but I will say 63 red brown

Hopefully you are pleased with the results.
