1949-D/S Nickel Question

I got a 1949-D nickel from my grandmother, that's in F condition, and I was checking to see if it was a D/S nickel. There seems to be something going on near the mintmark, but it doesn't seem to be as strong as I'd expect the "S" to be. So, is this what a 1949-D/S mintmark looks like, or is this just a normal mintmark?
