Tried BlueMoon

After the last discussion about BlueMoon here, I thought I'd see if there was anything I would be interested in and give them a try. Found this coin with a BIN of $799.00. Thought that price was a tad high so made an offer and this is what I got for my $33.99.

A little black spot between the I and G on the obverse otherwise not to bad. I guess I may have to try again.

It took some time to sort through all the MS69 ASEs and other crap. If you do find somthing you like ignore the BIN. They sell only by offers so they can decide to whether or not to sell. I think if the offer is over a consigners minimum or their min. they'll sell(just my guess).

Looks good for a Chinese reproduction.

I wouldn't deal with them based on this, plus I always thought thier ads were kinda sleazy.

Glad you got a good deal on that coin!!! image

I hate to throw more cold water on this thread, but I agree with Jester, that coin looks fake.

    What is the weight?

Nothing about it immediately jumps out as being bad to me, although as others mentioned I would weigh the coin and see how it checks out.

When I had my positive experiences with BM it was with NGC and PCGS certified coins... far less potential problems that way.

    What is the weight

    Weighs in at 26.9g.
Rings like a good die struck silver coin and edges are correct. In hand there is nothing I see that suggest it is not real.
  • I'd have to say that nothing appears abnormal to me, either. The denticles are right on, no outer rim that you usually see in chinese fakes. It appears well centered, and the bust has the right feel to it.

Add to that, it weighs out correctly.

I'd say you got a pretty decent bargain on that piece.

That is about the right weight, The photo looks like there may be a few casting bubbles, but that may just be a result of a low res pic.
