  • Detroit was flat after a week off. I wouldn't exaclty right them off, and I'll bet they bounce right back.
  • Detroit got spanked at home tonight, by a rookie pitcher.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

It's all a guess. In MLB, ANY team has shot at taking a seven-game series against ANY other team. It's not like we're talking about the Colts playing the Raiders in a best-of-seven.
  • As much as I want the Tigers to win, I agree that on a given night any team can beat any other team in baseball. The Tiger bats will have to get it going and the pitching will need to be much better than last night.

For the life of me, I will never understand why the whole world felt the Tigers would sweep or win this thing in 5. As long as the Motown Magician (Leyland) keeps pitching to Pujols, it'll be a sweep alright.

That nobody has given the Cardinals a chance all playoffs is the very reason they've had a chance all playoffs. They've done a terrible job as favorites during the LaRussa era, totally tightening up when it really matters. Now that they're underdogs, I think they're not only a little more relaxed but also carrying a bit of us-against-the-world chip on their shoulder. For once, LaRussa's brooding intensity might be a playoff plus.
