Oh boy...I could be in real trouble........

I make settlement on the house I am selling and will net quite a nice sum of money that will be used to renovate a new house we own. The problem is that I make settlement on Dec 1........ which is the same weekend of the Willow Grove / Reading Pa show. Just hope the temptation does not set in. I could be set for a divorce if it does.

I would not be a buyer of very much - unless I could really
steal it - until after January 2007.

Prices for all but the rarest stuff should be starting to go
deep into the toilet by then; especially stuff on EBAY.

Storm, this is a very intriguing post. Can you elaborate on why?

    Thanks,

No inside info, just how the market seems right now 2me.

There will be a consolidation/shake-out on EBAY after
the holiday shopping season. Many departing sellers
will be having fire-sales; this is likely to depress prices
in other card venues as well.

Also, after November 8, we could see some retracement
in the stock market. There might still be a Santa Claus
rally, but lots of buyers will be feeling jumpy and want
out, with their profits intact. This will erase the "wealth
effect" being felt by some passive (401K) shareholders.

Cards - except for very rare ones - have not shown themselves
to be a real storehouse of value during inflationary periods.
If inflation seems to be getting bad in early 2007, many
sophisticated card people will be dumping in favor of gold
and silver. More pressure on card prices; even the rare stuff
    could get hit here.

I think card bargains are in the future of those who wait
    a while.

I feel dumber for having read that nonsense.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

    Got it...

Be your own general contractor for the work...

Ask all the subs to overbid by 10% and kick the money back to you...

Then take that cash to the show...

I don't even have anything witty to say. That's just plain dumb. I hope you were drunk when you wrote that nonesense.

Disagree totally. Ebay sellers (sportscards) have it good from October to mid-July. August and September suck. chaz
