Just need to vent...on high S&H

ok..I know , I know...if you don't like the auction rules...don't bid. I agree 100% wholeheartedly!!

BUT...when a person has 80 cards in their Ebay store that you're willing to purchase....and send an email asking them if there is a way to pick the cards up in person....or get a flat rate deal...as they are only 35 miles from me....

and I get...sorry, we don't let people pick up cards....so the shipping is $27.00 as the description states...please read this before bidding!! Thanks, have a nice weekend.

1st...it's their perrogative to do just that.
2nd..it's MY perroagative to refuse to bid...

With all that said and done....why would I give this person and extra $19.00 of free money??? I know if it was one of my repeat customers..they could have whatever way they wanted if they were buying 80 cards in one whack.

whatever...it's cold and rainy...the temp just dropped 20 degrees in the past 2 hours..and this new diet is killing me..

Just had to vent!!

At least you're on a diet!

I think what's really getting you is the hunger!

    Good luck on the diet.

I can understand the seller not wanting you near his home but not cutting a deal on the shipping? I wouldn't want him running Customer Relations for Topps!

hey, at least your not catching it like I did in my first post about this very subject a few weeks back. image However, just offhand figured conservatively, I have been overcharged about $40 in shipping fees the past 10 days or so from Ebay sellers, but I've got some rips lately too. If anything about collecting football cards(again for a year or so back into it after not collecting since a young teen) begins to give me stress, then well, it is time to take a break. Just remember that and you'll be good
  • I think I had the same experience with the same seller a few months back.

Does the # 4 relate image

I stayed away from his stuff for a few months but he sells what I collect. I'm back buying from him and back getting screwed on s&h.

I think I paid $12.00 over my winning bid on the last card I won and I'm in the same damn state.

I typed up a whole paragraph on how I thought he was porking his customers on s&h charges. I proof read it and deleted it and sent payment. I'm such a puss! But he has what I want so I pay.

  • You have a choice guys....

I had a deal with a guy to purchase a card I was heavy after, for $1,700 . After the fact, he wanted me to add TWENTY FIVE CENTS extra for packing it more securely!! I simply declined the whole deal as a result. He ended up getting a couple hundred less for it.

There are so many sportscards out there available(especially post war), that you shouldn't feel obligated to buy from anybody. The items will turn up again. If that specific item never does turn up, there are soo many other cool and neat collectibles that you could put your money into.

SIMPLY DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THE CLOWNS! And be patient!
  • 5STAT, I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm as cheap as they come, and I agree it's a total gouge when flat rate shipping is $8.00 through USPS. I also think the seller is a total idiot. Hell, if someone wanted to buy 80 of my cards in one go, I'd ship for free! But let me come at it from another direction...

How much would you pay in shipping if you were to buy those cards individually? 3 bucks per card? $27 prorated over 80 cards works out to about one-tenth that price. Even if you were to buy the same 80 cards in four lots of 20 you'd be paying $32 in shipping at the same flat rate.

I don't know what you collect, but even at 10 bucks per card, we're talking an $800+ deal. Why quibble over 19 bucks?

it's more a fact of ethics....
we are in the same state...so 1st I get whacked 5% sales tax...that's fine....
But the $19 abuse of S&H is outright gouging in my eyes.

If one of my customers was dropping that kind of coin on my lots..as said above..I'D pay for S&H AND INSURANCE to guarantee that they come back!!

I've done it for deals as little as a few dollars with guys from this board.

@bag wants to make sheer profit off shipping....not on my best day!!!

    So I choose to wait....

If enough people stopped caitering to this guy and giving him tyhe business...maybe he'd just go away...or atleast come into some sort of realistic realm..

    Yup; maybe.

But, that is not going to happen quickly. Bad people - and that is
how I view shipping gougers - NEVER do anything quickly that is
not mandated by some type of authority.

The venue has the ability to stop the problem immediately, but
has chosen not to do so. When they do, the gougers will be
    gone.
