Chinese Monetary History

Hello image

I am doing a research project for my history class that involves comparing one aspect of two cities/countries. I am comparing the development of money in China and the United States, specifically Philadelphia, because I think that would be a whole lot of fun! Not to mention the interrelations with regards to US Trade Dollars and Spanish Dollars (8R).

I have quite a lot of books from which to draw from for US coins and the historical development of money, but not so much for China.

I want to discuss the spade and knife money, the large-size notes made under the Ming, the Xing bronze coins (I have a few) and then after that I really have no clue.

If you guys could reccommend any books (preferred) or websites(my teacher wishes us to stay away from electronic sources, if possible)(I am not allowed to use Wikipedia image ) I would greatly appreciate it. image

Thank you very much!
