I just got this email from our CBS affiliate:

..........................

A Web site is claiming that seven NFL football stadiums -- including Houston's Reliant Stadium -- will be hit with radiological dirty bombs this weekend, but the government on Wednesday expressed doubts about the threat.

Seriously though the dirty bomb thing is more fear than effect. You can literally use parts from smoke detectors and some low yield explosives and call it a dirty bomb.

There is more fear caused by people and their concerns over long term contaminated areas than the actual scenario holds. People will not work, shop or live in an area where a dirty bomb has detonated but fail to know that these areas can be properly deconned and not measurably increase their dose.

They take a greater risk in getting medical treatment and other forms of radiologic exposure than the long term effects of most dirty bombs.

You know it's all just a ploy to make people afraid.

You ain't kidding. habeas corpus was removed yesterday, with the ridiculous signing of bush's new 'security' act. The act means that anyone they deem a terrorist is an enemy combatant and doesn't have to have a trial, can be held without charges, etc.

    Really scary stuff.
