eBay Seller wcsports1

Wow, check out this Messier 10:

Messier

What do you think the odds are that it was in a PSA 9 holder not too long ago???
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I'd say the odds are about.....99.99999%
  • I've been copying and pasting all of his purchases since May, and this isnt one from Ebay unless I missed it. Nevertheless, it still was probably a nine that was sent in under review and bumped up. Will this thread end up going "poof" again?

Seller must have some amazing connections.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • This guy gets some amazing stuff.... One has to wonder if this is just one of his selling accounts, and he sells everyyhing else on another Id. There is enough graded card ebay sellers out of california that is definatly a possibility..

All of it was purchased under the same name. Thats what raised all the flags because people could see he purchased 9's and than 30 days later, he would list the same cards in 10......

Considering he has bid on only 3 items in the last 30 days from this account, I would venture to guess he finally created a "buying" account.

He bought a Elway rookie 9 from me and flipped it to a 10. Nice little $1800 profit for him.
  • ldfergldferg Posts: 6,745 ✭✭✭
so if he's bidding on one of your items, it's best to pull and resubmit....

not to mix sellers but have you seen the 10's listed by psa_registry_gems? some modern cards, but still a nice batch of 10s as far as qty goes.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

  • A LOT of these cards have gone under the knife. His latest sub looks to be from 07170807 to about 07170866. There are about 10-20 cards in here that he has already sold mixed in with the Evidence of trim cards..........

I've bought a few cards from him. Some were overgraded, but not all of them. He's making an absolute killing, though, that's for sure...

Um, how come this is THE only guy that can consistantly buy 9's from only looking at scans and have them bumped to 10's?
  • gosteelersgosteelers Posts: 2,668 ✭✭✭
That Cavarretta is an absolute crime. Do you have the pic of the one he sold?

  • << <i>That Cavarretta is an absolute crime. Do you have the pic of the one he sold? >>

I wish I would have saved all of the pics also, but I only have so much memory on my PC. I saw this coming a while back and wanted to keep track of this. If you remember, back in May or June a thread went "Poof" because this guy had turned about 20-30 high dollar rookies from 9's into 10's, and I had a hunch it wasnt going to stop there.....

Do you think it's worth trying to bring this to Joe Orlando's attention? I mean if we all just complain about it in threads that that don't last very long, what's going to change?

  • YES, we must call Mr. Orlando and have him put a stop to this. It is unfair that some people are allowed to make money like this and the rest of us cant.

Well that would imply that he knows and didn't care to do anything about it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though. Perhaps a few of us should contact him. Power in numbers.

  • The guy has already made a ton of cash this year. Just makes you seriously wonder why you even bother when people like this get a "free pass" on the deal..........
  • packCollectorpackCollector Posts: 2,786 ✭✭✭
has he made a ton of cash? If all those evidence of trimming cards came out of holders he is not doing that well.
  • ldfergldferg Posts: 6,745 ✭✭✭
it does get frustrating seeing this type of activity if you are one that meticuously reviews cards for grading before submitting.

    Thanks,

The X-Acto 2000 is a good board heh.
Anyone trace or backtrack on those serial #s to possibly see
what grades come before or after just to get an idea?

Well, he obviously knows what he's doing.
  • I posted some pics on the last thread about this guy. 1974-75 Topps basketball I believe and the grades were a crime.
This guy trims and gets away with it but I know he is not the only one. Someone I know who knows a few big time submitter's has told me they are trimming and are getting away with it. It's sad but true. I love PSA but they are not 100% mistake free. I can live with a wrong flip or a scratched holder once in awhile but card trimming is just wrong.

Has anyone noticed a difference in any of the cards pre and post bump? I was under the impression that the cards were just getting bumps, not facelifts.

  • The ones I posted were because they were nowhere near worthy of the grade received but I also believe that there has to be some surgery going on. Who the hell can have that much luck??

I was thinking the same thing. But after looking at the cards around his last submission numbers, I guess I was wrong.......
  • If he is buying 9's and cracking them to resubmit. whats wrong with that? We all could do that, why blame him? or do you think he is doctoring the cards?
My ebay store IS CLOSED TEMPORARILY

Did you see all of the trimmed cards in the sub?
  • He's off my radar for good!
  • I don't care what PSA says........

814/815.... is a preferred grader that wcsports1 gets. I have no clue how he does it, but David Rayter has connections inside PSA. You wouldn't believe the cards he has gotten PSA 10s on.

And not he is having his 1993 Refractors in PSA 9/10 sold by consignmints on eBay ------ gee, I wonder why?

I seriously doubt he has inside help from PSA on getting a bump up on a grade. I have recently purchased 70 Kelloggs from him and these items do not seem out of range. This guy has a ton of stuff and most everything I see that is graded is 8-10, good quality.

Ok, so this is the same guy that just sold the Gale Sayers RC PSA 9?

Looking at that card on the scan, it almost looks like it should be a 10, not 9. So I am not sure where the suspicions would play into it there...?

Regardless, something is goofy here? Very disturbing
