That is an excellent example of the type, as it has a far better than average strike for the issue. The horizontal shield lines on he obverse and the stars & rays on the reverse are all well defined. It looks as though there is minor strike doubling in evidence at the lower part of the date, and the lowest leaf tips in the bottom clusters left and right. Nice die crack at left connecting the lowest leaf to the left arrow fletching. Also, there are interesting die polish lines around the reverse legend. Perhaps the legend was mis-punched, polished out, and repunched.
Thanks all for your comments and analysis. The die polishing around the reverse legend is very pronounced, and I think Sunnywood nailed the reason why. I would have preferred a MS65, but it was out of my budget. I’ve looked at MANY 64’s in the past several years and most were weakly struck, spotted, or lacking in eye appeal. I’m very happy with this purchase, and picked it up at a good price.

When I get one of those for my type set, I am going to look for a clashed one.
