OT - We have power, a lot of storm photos

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,455 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yes, at 7:30 PM tonight our power went on. We were in the dark for a total of 123 hours. No lights, no heat, no indoor cooking. I am glad that is over. Here are a few photos I took:

October 13 about 9 AM

Same day and time but looking north:

The damage at my dad's house. That's Kelly's butt in the photo

Looking from my dad's backyard

Pile of debris after cleaning up at my dad's house. This was taken today.

We really didn't have much damage at our house. We lost part of the gutter on the garage and a couple tree limbs. Our trees are younger so they weren't damaged much.

Only a couple branches here and there. My dad had all four trees in his yard damaged. Each tree was 40+ years old. I think the two maple trees may have to be cut down.

Hey Shep, Colvin Blvd only lost power for about a day or so.

DON - I used to live on Parker Blvd. not Colvin, I think Parker is only about a mile and a half from your place.
I can remember some real snowstorms from back in the day, but can't remember one so early in the season. WOW.

Glad you didn't have too much damage.

I grew up in upstate New York (Syracuse area), went to college in Rochester and lived there for 12 years, and have good friends from the Clarence / Tonawanda / Buffalo area.

I got tired of the looooong winters and finally moved south to Georgia a few years ago. The "cold snap" we had last weekend amounted to low 60s during the day and into the 40s at night.... balmy, compared to New York!

I have relatives in Buffalo and Williamsville, they had the snow, but didn't lose power.

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't lose power in Williamsville. They were very lucky, Williamsville was hit very hard by the storm.

You got your power back a day before I did. No house damage here but the clean-up is gonna take some time.
