OT-Favorite concert you DID NOT attend...

Ever either miss out on a concert or wish you had gone to one? Let's hook up some video links to some legendary performances. One I didn't attend, I was only 3 at the time but even then I would've loved to be there lol. GnR at the Ritz in 1988. I grew up on GnR, and this was performance was simply amazing. Before the cokkiness and BS of stardome insued. BTW, youtube.com rocks. Here's a few links, make sure to search GnR Ritz as well for more. Another artist I would've love to have seen, SRV as well as tons of old southern blues artists. SRV, just another personal favorite.

I was fortunate enough to catch hundreds upon hundreds of concerts over the years.

My first show was Pink Floyd at the Meadowlands when I was 14 in 1987. During the 10-15 years following that show I managed to catch nearly every major act out there, including the Dead over 75 times, Allman bros ( though not with Duane ), Skynyrd, Neil Young, Dylan, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Phish, the Stones, the Who, Clapton, Kiss, Lou Reed, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra, James Taylor, B.B. King, Black Sabbath, CSN, Page & Plant, the Pretenders, Elvis Costello, Rod Stewart, Fleetwood mac, Iggy Pop, Santana, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Neil Diamond, Metallica, Beck, Tom Petty, Jethro Tull, Van Halen, Steve Miller, Alice Cooper, and countless number of 80's metal bands, bands I cant think of at the moment, and smaller acts along the way.

I feel bad for the next generation that will never know what its like to go to 2-3 shows a week like we did when they were $15 a pop.

The one guy I wish I had gotten the chance to see above all others is Jimi hendrix.

  • That's AWESOME Bri. Going to music fests/concerts is one of my main hobbies. I went to see Allman Brothers in Virginia maybe 5 years ago, we ran out of gas both ways(guage didn't work in the car). Great times. It sucks concerts are so expensive, luckily in DC there are a lot of shows for 10-20 bucks though. Jimi is amazing; and honestly I grew up listening to nearly everyone you listed.

We must have bumped into each other at least at one of those shows image I saw Dead in Vegas 3 times and once in Denver. Had tickets to the last show at the Garden but obviously, that didn't pan out too well...

While I saw Page and Plant (loved the Kashmir redo on No Quarter), I wish to have seen Led Zeppelin back in the day. Same with Jimi, the Doors, and Joplin image

  • The one have have to catch before he dies is Clapton!

I have been through so many music phases in my life that I have seen just about every type of band.

    Some favorites:
Like you guys Plant and Page (Not Zep) Allman Bro's, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Metallica, Pantara (Unknown White Zombie opened), Whalers,Black Uhuru, Pato Banton, Peter Tosh, Eek-O-Mouse, Aswad, REM (first concert) Pink Floyd, Dead/Jerry Band/Further Festival, Phish,
Black Sabboth, Cypress Hill, Steel Pulse, Beestie Boys, Black Crows, there are more I just cant remember right now.
Topps I saw Buffett up your way a few years back, always fun.

The one I wanted to see that I couldnt (I was detained image ) was Slayer. STP and Janes Addiction would have been fun too!

Still want to see - Stones and Pearl Jam .

My kids (6 & 7) can sing Violent Femmes, Metallica and Janes Addiction and love it. (Or my wife will turn them into little hip hoppers)

But when I drive or just want to chill its tuned to the classic rock station!

Would to have loved to seen the Who, the Doors play Roadhouse Blues, Jimi at Woodstock, Janis, Frampton comming alive, Beatles and most of the legands of Rock - But if I could have seen anyone it would be Robert Nesta Marley, OM.

Funny you mention them. Saw STP at a small concert in '92 back in Austin. Place sat maybe 100 on a good night and they were more as background music rather than the focal point. I'll never forget him singing through a megaphone and thinking, "hmmm, very interesting..."
