Best Scanner for the $

Opinions wanted on the scanners. I am looking to buy a scanner for at home. I want the best bang for the buck. Who doesnt. I dont need one with all the bells and whistles. I have some at work that I can use for high end. I want a nice cheap one to have at home so I dont have to take my cards in to work all the time to scan them.

Thanks for the help.

You can't much go wrong with anything from HP, Epson or Canon these days. Don't worry to much about specs if the main thing you are getting the scanner for is cards. I have a Canon 8400F I am very please with.

Thanks for all the help. It seems that the quality is about the same between those two. I will stick with a HP or cannon. Probably HP as that is normally what I have bought in the past. I have an old HP scanner at home but I cant use it with XP, or at least XP wont support it. I dont want to scan onto my old windows 2000 computer because its way to slow. But I should probably give it a try first and see how it works.

  • I use the same model as 5stat... HP Scanjet 3970... it's a couple years old now, but zero complaints.
  • I have an Epson Stylus CX3800 that I got at Target for about $50. My only complaint is that every time I scan my near-mint Mantle RCs it always comes up with a picture of a VG+ Kevin Seitzer Topps gold Cup. I'll try giving customer support a call.

PS. Anytime you pay more for 2 ink cartridges than you did for the scanner itself you might have problems. image
