2 new Barber Halves from this weekend

GeomanGeoman Posts: 2,491 ✭✭✭
Here are 2 new Barber Half dollars I bought this weekend. Nothing special, just nicely circulated examples I needed for my circulated set. The set is almost complete, and I'll post photos once I have it complete. I like to "look" of circulated Barbers in G-6 to VG-8 (full rims) condition. So the set is pretty much a matched set - all grading approximately the same. Sorry, but my picture taking needs some work.

First one is a 1914 Barber Half in G-6.

Second one is a 1897-O Barber Half in G-6.

Geoman, you are dead on with that G6 grade. You can tell when you have part of the rim almost worn down into the field. Completely full rims would give you VG8. Two nice tough coins there. Congrats.

Thanks Craig. I would have liked to get completely full rims, but just can't seem to find them anymore at shows (at least at a reasonable price). So these will do for now. I need a nice 1913 next, and I saw Amanda's yesterday, which would fit perfectly into my set. So I am heading to another show to see if I can get the 1913.

Keep collecting them G-6 coins, I am working on a VG-8 & 10 set and it is quite difficult to find....

The 1890's coins are super difficult to find, I was able to get a 1914-P in VG-8 for $50 about 2 years ago.....

    Both are nice coins.....

William, how long have you been working on a barber circulated set? I started on one 15 years ago and still have not finished it.

I have only been working on this set for about a year now. But I did sell some coins off recently, to use that money to try and finish off my Barber half set. Can't remember exactly, but I think I have 8-9 coins left.
