since I dont see how this venue goes towards the "core competancy" of CU, I would probably tone down the threads if I were you guys or you'll quickly find yourself looking into another area for your open (not directly relating to the consumption of cardboard) sports discussions.

You are incorrect because Sports Talk directly relates here to interest in card collecting. Most all the Sports Talk members here actively participate in the card collecting forums and buy PSA products - I did not see a number of the Open Forum members participating in other forums at CU or supporting PSA products.
Yes, the Sports Talk forum gets a bit heated sometimes but that is sports talk. Nothing vulgar here in my opinion like it seemed was constantly occuring on the Open Forum. If you can't understand the difference between a "heated" discussion and a "vulgar" discussion, then you don't understand why the Open Forum was closed.
That being said...some of the "personal attacks" here I would hope the members doing that could tone it down and stifle themselves a bit. The smack talk is fun...the repetitive personal attacks windup becoming boring. And to those comparing Sports Talk to the Open Forum - it isn't the same situation so let's not make that claim.

Constantly call people names but when it comes back to haunt, oh woe is me!
As I said in another thread, 12k+ hate filled posts and she wonders why no one likes her.

Interesting argument. my POV is ff you're talking cardboard, it's not OT in the card forum, otherwise should be here at all ? This area is to relieve the Off topic pressure of current events in your card forum, to run parallel to it. that was the point of the OF. yeah, there were scumbag trolls, but they were the vast minority.
Are you telling me that the lions share of people in the OF didn't actively participate, purchase, and are extremely knowlegeable about coins and contributed in those forums (lite and darkside) ? Im not going to rattle off 15 names off the top of my head who still contribute to the coin and world forums, despite the dissolution of the OF.
It's intellectually lazy to make that generalization on your part, but I understand where your main thrust was but we'll have to agree to I disagree. I think they're more similar than they are different.
BTW, I have never and will never ever post in the card forum, but I post here. However, I am a PCGS member and buy/sell/contribute on the coin forums in both areas, in my small way.
You know who you are...look in the mirror before you run your yap about the way others post.

I sometimes posted in the Open Forum and enjoyed it. Especially discussing the news and political events with fellow card and coin collectors. I wasn't happy to see the Open Forum closed. But it was clear to me why it was closed. In any event, the Open Forum is gone and it's a waste of time discussing it.
I rarely post but sometimes lurk in the coin forums as I do collect coins, but I have been much more active with baseball and football cards for about the past 15 years. I rarely saw the Open Forum "regulars" in the coin forums. But I clearly stated, "I did not see a number of the Open Forum members participating in other forums" - I didn't state that I didn't see "any" - there were of course some Open Forum regulars who post in the coin forums as well as in the card forums.
And it is "intellectually lazy" on your part to make a generalization of equating what happened with the Open Forum to the Sports Talk Forum. But your basic idea of toning down some threads here is a good one, and I clarified that idea in keeping with the nature of Sports Talk.
it seems we're a pretty much in agreement.
that's well.

We all miss the CU where we could joke, rant or rave about anything and everything with 99% of it taken with a grain of salt. Now, it spills over into all the forums instead of being there.

Ax, the very fact that you have not been banned yet is comical. If this "sports talk forum" ever moves ahead with decent debate and credibility it will be without you that is for sure. Your posting habits do indeed violate many of CU's rules. And spare me the crying about anybody else. YOU instigate all ..... hopefully somebody here at CU will see that eventually.
I mean, why have somebody dirty up the scene who contributes next to nothing outside of this forum?
****NOTE**** Now watch as Axtell's pathetic response as he starts posting elsewhere like he does ONLY when called out with this fact. He will start a thread or two and respond to others in a truly hollow and fake gesture to try and prove that he is not a well established TROLL.
