<< <i>I like the original Austrian ducats as opposed to their restrikes. And I think that our dear friend Zar would have loved the first one.
Dimitri,
As a point of clarification for anyone reading this post and not familiar with Austrian Franz Josef ducats ... The 1 FJ ducat was minted from 1849 through 1914. Through these years there were 5 obverse designs utilized ( Young laurate head - Facing left (1848-51), young laurate head facing right (1852-59), laureate head with small whiskers (1860-65) , older laureate head with heavier whiskers (1866-72)and the oldest laureate head with thick whiskers (1872-1914). Coins with this last design continued to be minted from 1915 until I guess today and they are all dated 1915. This coins are referred to as "restrikes" and most are proofs or prooflike.
I posted it for Zar across the street and yes he told me "I sucked"
Nice additions there, Conrad.
