1985 Topps Football

I hardly ever rip football so I had Steve hook me up with two boxes of 85 Topps. I noticed the packs are different. Is it because one box comes with stickers and one does not or is it something else?

That's really strange. I'd email Steve to ask.

    Very interesting, at least.

I am not exactly sure why but I have seen and ripped both types of wrappers back in 1985. Sorry but I do not remember any differences....stickers or not.
    Best of luck,

  • The packs with missing the red on top were end of year thing with tops in 85. It seems both baseball and football topps ran out of wrappers and had to get buy with the basic wrapper. heres a pic of the 85 baseball notice anything missing.
with the baseball i have gotten a premium from pack collectors on the blank 85 baseball wrappers i'm sure there would be a premium on the football ones also since there are much rarer then the regular.

  • From what I could find out and what I heard back from Steve there is no huge premium for the pack variation so I will be ripping them all.

    Arthur,

I saw you were looking for a good rip. Sorry, I bought Steve’s last two boxes. I actually wanted three so I had a shot at a full set but he only had two. If you need some for a set let me know. I may be able to help with some dupes.

Sorry, I bought the 3rd to last a when 80s and I were there. The centering on my box was the best of all the 85s I have ever ripped. I just sent in 30 cards from that box.

That's alright guys. While I appreciate and am intrigued by the set I haven't yet begun to collect it so I'm happy to see that they all found good homes. image

  • Be careful. The '85s are addictive!
