Does anyone know much about this medal? I know Askari has one...

I bought it on ebay (of course).

The only ones I'd seen were about two years ago, an amazingly horrible beat up one at a show, and one that Askari bought. Then nothing until a couple months ago--I'd been watching for it ever since-- and three came up on ebay. A perfect one I was seriously outbid on, a really beat up one, then finally this one.

I thought I saved the write-ups on it, but I can't find them on my computer. The medalist is Lancelot (or Croce Lancelot) and the name of it alludes to the 'passing of the barbarians'.

I've googled to no avail and I was thinking of bugging Askari, but I thought I'd see if any of you guys knew anything first.

Please ignore the wierdness in my photos...I was playing around with the exposure stuff with my simplistic photoediting software.

I can't get over the face of the mom/widow and the bump of the baby's head against her cheek. They are so tiny, but speak volumes. It has haunted me for 2 years!

Thanks for any help image

Looks Like a WW! presentation to Someone at Le Samme, might have died there, nasty place during the war.

    My interpretation

Mother morning the babies sent to die in the war. Powerful pieceimage
