I just purchased a rare upgrade for my trade dollar set. Since it just crossed it's not yet on the pop report, so ignore the pop of zero.

That's quite a low pop coin you have there
Congrats on the upgrade, your set(s) are always fun to browse when I'm bored or in the mood for some great looking coins.
Always jealous, but always still collecting; having fun and love what I see.

Yeh, there's only one more coin that is known for an upgrade.
Good luck with that one TDN!!!

I know where it is.... I passed on chances to acquire it four separate times. It's ok, but doesn't have anywhere near the eye appeal of my current coin. Plus, my coin has the distinction of having been discovered in a safe deposit box in the city of my birth.

Why is this thread addressed to saintguru? I thought he was only into gold (or is this a private joke between you two)?

He was just beeching there were never any classics on this forum!
What is the history behind your new acquisition?
An upgrade, an acqusition then an upgrade? Neither Other?
Any famed collection it came from?
Costly, inexpensive, other?
What was your previous coin and grade and what was the previous pop and was it previously tied with finest graded, etc.?
It's great when you think there's nothing left to do and an amazing opportunity arises! I'll have a new coin to show soon, as well.
It was NGC MS66 and crossed.
Any famed collection it came from?
Unknown. Wish I knew as I dearly love coins of great provenance!

Significantly more than my MS65 is worth but a lot less than if I wasn't the one that got it crossed!

My previous coin is a flashy white MS65+ that I acquired from Parrino about 8 years ago for $13k. That's about what it's worth today - very poor appreciation on gem trade dollars! It was a pop 3/0 ... curiously, another of the PCGS gem specimens is on the market right now!
Heck, compare them to bust halves in MS65 at about the same money for a type coin. PCGS MS65 busties outnumber the trades by 2.5 to 1. Sure, you can toss the proof trades into the mix I guess for total availability. But you can also state that 90% of the PCGS MS65 bust halves aren't techincally UNC (most are rubbed) while 90% of the trade dollars are technically GEM and UNC as well.
For a pop 3 coin, $13K does seem somewhat cheap for a gem 73-s.

Heck, a pop 3 early Lincoln penny would be about three times that!!!!

Thanks for sharing and congrats on the cross over. This coin with it's original surfaces is just smashing!

Wow, just think, you could have had that 2003 MS 70 lincoln cent for that kind of money!!!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I agree it is the best toned TD out there.
