2006 Allen & Ginter TTM IP signed thread

I am almost through with my 1st year of collecting autographs TTM and IP. Since I started in November, 2005, I have taken on several signed set projects including this very nice set. As you can see the cards look awesome in blue sharpie type. So that is what I will prefer to do the set in, but of course, I'll take what the player sends me.

Hopefully this thread will be a place for autograph hounds to trade and show off these great cards once they are signed.

My other success include:
Moose Skowron - personalized
Monte Irvin
Tony LaRussa
John Wooden - personalized
Hong-Chih Kuo

Currently I do not have any duplicates in this set.

My count for unobtainable signed cards is 37 of the 350 cards, plus the Statue of Liberty. If anyone else counts different please let me know.

Please post scans or links to your successes. I can't wait for Spring Training now.
The main sets I am collecting are:
Signed baseball sets - 2005 Bowman Heritage, 2006 Topps Heritage, 2006 Just Autos.
Signed football sets - 2006 Press Pass Legends, 2005 Topps Heritage, 2005 All American (Retired).
Clayton Kershaw - master set
Signed Sets:
2011 Topps Heritage BB
1960s & 1970s Topps decade Cincinnati Reds
2006-2016 A&G HOFers

  • After reading Elemenopeo ost last night about this set and TTM autos i decided to start it as well. got a few ready last night and off they go today. I haven't collected TTM since i was 13 or so but i am really looking forward to this. Just a question, you both mention spring training being the time to send these (for the current players anyways). Is this the best chance you have of a response? And do you send them to the normal team address or is there a spring training address that works better? Any help would be appreciated and i can't wait to post a few successes.

There are numerous sites dedicated to TTM (PM me and I can send you some links) and IP successes and failures. I had about the same success rate during ST as I did during the season.

This srping training though I am looking for some key IP successes like I had last year. I will be better prepared this ST and will see more ST games/practices.

ST can be good for return times, because while the players are in Florida/Arizona, they mostly play ball, eat, sleep and play ball. Answering fan mail breaks that up for them and most players like doing it. Most players don't want to take it with them after camp breaks, but some do and answer during the season. I have found if I send duplicates and offer the player to keep the extra card(s), they will sign and return all of them. At the most I would put in 2 different cards and duplicates and offer the duplicates to them.

I type my letters (some people handwrite them) and am also up front with the player and don't lie to them, telling them they are my favorite player or on my favorite team. I tell them I collect autographs and like to build sets. Sometimes I tell them what set the card is from and tell them how I am doing with accomplishing my goal. I tell them I understand they are busy and thank them for their time and consideration with the request.

With 3 main baseball sets that I am building and new sets that come out before ST (06 Bowman Heritage and 07 Topps Heritage), I'll have my hands full. But I'll have my 8 year old that is a true hound and we will get our share.

If anyone has an extra John Wooden card they could part with I'd like to acquire it for a TTM auto. It looks great!

  • Had a couple more in the mail today. It is so much fun to open the mail and see a SASE in there along with the bills.

Mr. Wooden also sent along a signed business card.

This has been so much fun so far. I'm actually contemplating starting a football set, i've got a couple 1987 Topps sets laying around. What have i gotten myself into?

Why not try to get the Statue of Liberty card signed by a notable New Yorker - some ideas:

    Rudy Giuliani
    Mayor Bloomberg
    Hillary Clinton
    George Steinbrenner
    Jerry Seinfeld
    John Gotti
    Yakoff Smirnov (what a country!)
    Donald Trump

  • Moosedog that's a great idea on the Statue of Liberty card. Thanks for the names.
  • Great idea but I believe Mr Gotti is dead.....

    might try his daughter Victoria.....

Mr. Killebrew usually charges even ttm but i thought i would try him anyway. I am so happy about this one, i grew up and stil am a huge Twins fan and even though i never saw him play he was my Moms favorite player when she was growing up in the Twin Cities.

And in keeping with the HOF theme for the day
    image
i did include Mr. Robinsons fee as it fit much more into my budget.

All in all, my best trip to the mailbox in a long time.
