Do you have chrometophobia?

RedneckHBRedneckHB Posts: 20,240 ✭✭✭✭✭
Being Friday the 13th, I thought maybe this was appropriate.

The fear of money is termed chrometophobia or chrematophobia, from the Greek "chrimata" (money) and "phobos" (fear). The "chrome" in "chrometophobia" may also be related to the Greek word "chroma" (color) because of the brilliant colors of ancient coins -- for example, gold, silver, bronze and copper.

    Nope, and no paraskevidekatriaphobia either.

Yes, my wife has this chrometophobia. She addresses it by spending money as much as possible as often as possible. image Even though I've told her this leaves less money for coins!

Hmm ... paraskevi (Friday) and dekatria (thirteen) are modern Greek ... whereas triskaideka (thirteen, literally "three and ten") is ancient Greek. Most proper "phobia" words are etymologically derived from ancient Greek roots ... therefore, triskaidekaphobia gets the thumbs up, while paraskevidekatriaphobia gets the boot !!

OK, I know I'll get some sort of flame for being an elitist LOL ....
