Just reported on ESPN. He was the pilot of the plane. Weird.

    Radio station here is confirming it's Lidle.
    So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

    Actually all they have said was that it was his plane. it has not been officially confirmed yet.

    I know it does not look good for him but until they officially confirm it...............

    well, if there is hope then lets hope. Sure does not look good, especially if someone found a passport at the scene.

    my wife went to south hills high school and melanie is a very good freind of hers. this is a sh$tty day!

    i feel for malanie and christopher his 6 year old son.. i also am gonna fell really bad for her when her plane lands and the freaking media circus attacks her.

    I can't believe he was flying by himself with only one year of schooling. Thought you needed a couple hundred hours prior to flying solo.

    I think he was with his instructor at the time.

    I believe he was with his flying instructor. Mayor Bloomberg went on TV and during the conference confirmed that there were two souls aboard the plane.

    yuck such a sad situation, at first i woke up and turn espn to see a plane in another building in NEW YORK, and was angry but then sad when i saw it was a accident and a american that shouldn't be dead. RIP to Cory and his instructor and may their familes get through this situation

    It's looking like Lidle tried to make a turn too fast over the East River, ran out of room, and lost control. Not much the instructor pilot could do about it.

    Lidle was killed when his plane crashed into a building in NYC on 10/11/06
