Can you tell what's wrong with this buffalo?-Whizzed!

image

And yes, there IS something wrong with it. image

But no worries, as it was purchased on the super-cheap for educational purposes. image

Yes, as some of you guessed it is whizzed! image

And in an NNC 65 holder, too! Not so anymore. Just thought people could learn what a whizzed buffalo looks like. image

    Hmmm...

LIBERTY has been strengthened as should be the case for 1916. The font used for the lettering and date look correct. The Buffalo is standing on a platform instead of a mound as should be the case for a Type 2.

The only thing that would keep me from buying it is the fact that it looks circulated as seen by the Buffalo's hip which seems to conflict with the luster seen in the obverse fields.

This assumes, of course, that the coin hasn't been offered as a proof which it CLEARLY is not.

You've stumped me too - the "6" and "F" beneath it kept attracting my eye as strange, but I have no idea.

The fields have been artificially mirrored.

Clearly whizzed... to much shine in the fields, but the high points were polished down a bit. Looks terrible.

Exactly. And on a better strike for the date, too. image
