Are the Phillies still alive in the wildcard race?

    Mets in 5. I hope I'm wrong.

Something about that Cardinal team just doesn't seem right. After Pujols, they just don't stack up. Mets in 5 sounds about right.

You are right. Rolen is playing like an over the hill has been. Edmonds is injured. The Mets are stacked. That Reyes kid is fun to watch (until they play the Cardinals) - then I can't stand him. Same with Calos Beltran. He is a Cardinals killer. That HR tonight was a monster shot!

I'm right behind you on rooting for the Cards, but they just don't 'feel' like a contender. I hope I'm wrong.
  • If Carpenter can't stop the Mets tonight, it's lights out for the Cards.

  • 1420,

your right it is just smack talk.

Nothing serious, just having fun with sports.

This board has almost become unreadable for me at times with all the piss matches going on.

I love sport debates more than anyone i know but it's gotten out of hand lately on here with the fighting becoming so personal. I've been a member on here since 01 and i can't remember so much cat fighting between members image

mets take cards in 5 games

Mets Tigers series will be a classic if it happens.

(clearing throat) - I thought I would bump this thread up after the slight momentum swing of Game 2.

Boy, has Scott Spezio been a great pickup for the Cards this year. He has done that on several occassions this year.

Rolen is playing like an over the hill has been.

he has pins in his shoulder and his shoulder is aching.

the mets always have trouble with the cards. im just hoping they beat them.

I take part of that back. He is hitting like that. But, did you see that play in the field? He was fresh off the bench. He is one of the best defensive 3rd basemen I have seen.

It certainly seems that Wags has concentration issues coming into games in non-save situations. I recall that he blew a 4-0 lead in the 9th inning this season to the Yankees and then criticized Willie for using him in that situation, to which Willie replied that he's getting paid to pitch no matter what the score is. Still, I see the Mets coming home to Shea with a 3-2 lead (hopefully).

I was actually somewhat optimistic coming into this series. The Cardinals have crumbled under the weight of lofty expectations during the LaRussa era, but now they get to play without that pressure. Game 1 was a bit deflating, but there seemed to be a huge momentum swing last night. Hopefully it carries over to Busch today.

And, yeah, what a fantastic play by Rolen last night.

(cough). I thought I would bump this thread again. (I am whispering now). Cards up 2-1.

  • Just be glad you didn't have to face Pedro or El Duque this series

Then again when you don't score a run it dosen't matter who pitches lol

Cards are playing well, no doubt.

Never thought that Puljos would be so low class as to blast Glavine like he did after Game 1. He sounded like a whining crybaby. Expected better from him.

So he had a moment of frustration, of weakness. And you want to crush him?

Pujols has been the epitome of class - perhaps some fellas playing in ny could learn from his example.

Pujols was just angry for losing. Listen to the whole interview. He didn't even want to talk to those reporters.

Well your ignorance shines again, moron.

Your lack of an answer speaks volumes - you see the writing on the wall, and it says the mets will be following the yankees early exit.

Pujols was just angry for losing. Listen to the whole interview. He didn't even want to talk to those reporters.

That may be true but in the end it was a bush league move to unfairly belittle a HOF pitcher like Tom Glavine. As a star ballpplayer, he ought to know better than that. In the end, he's responsible for what he says, all excuses aside, and I haven't heard him retract anything afterwards. I just thought it was inappropriate for a guy like Puljos to say what he said after Glavine clearly dominated in Game 1.

Pujols is the only guy who's ever done this?

I guess whatever he said worked - mets have choked away two straight games since then.

Like the Mariners did in the first round in 2001 with the best record in baseball? At least the Mets are in the NLCS. Though I recall that you were predicting back in August that they'd collpase, yet another wrong prediction among too many to count.

    ooh you burned me!

Instead of addressing the issue at hand, you go back 5 years?

The overwhelming favorite to represent the NL in the world series is down 2-1, and you make jokes about the Mariners?

    You, sir, are CLUELESS.

The Mets are in deep deep trouble.

Like the Yankees, it's looking like the offense may not be enough to overcome their battered pitching staff. Especially when the Cards #3 starter pitches a shutout and hits a home run.
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
Absolutely the mets are in deep trouble.

I'd love to see every one of these east coast biased announcers eat crow and have the Cards and Tigers in the world series....plus, 2 old, distinguished franchises in the world series, instead of a bunch of overpaid schmucks from ny would be a sight to behold, indeed!
