Opinions on taler grade (grade revealed)

I posted this on the US forum by accident. Any opinions on whether it would make a NGC holder? The rim bump and hit on the church door are 2 strikes against it, but I was wondering if the TPG would factor this into an acceptible market grade?

p.s. - pic is by Dirk Lobber - I dont have the coin in hand yet.

Beautiful Sede Vacante, worldcoinguy image Not sure about the NGC, since I am yet to send anything in to get graded.

The rim bumps might be a problem, but if it does I think it would grade VF.

    Great coin BTW!image

The rim hit doesn't look bad enough to keep it out of a slab, based on your pics, but I would like to see an edge image.

Nice coin. It’s hard to tell from the pics, but if there are no other "problems," I’d guess it would slab...but personally, I’d leave it raw.

I personally think that NGC would grade it in the AU-58 to MS-62 range as I have seen quite a few in that condition graded like that. Unless your just looking to put it in a slab for safe keeping, I would leave it raw in a airtite holder.

I think VF-35 is a safe bet, with an outside chance at XF-40. I don't see this coin getting an AU, due to the perceived wear on it (flatness on all high points).

Many thanks for the opinions. I will reimage it and continue this post in a few days. My gut tells me it is VF-30 or VF-35, but anything over EF-40 seems like a stretch due to the wear. I am not hell-bent on slabbing it.....just curious what others thoughts.

I'd say there is a near 100% chance it will grade. I'd guess NGC AU53-55.

I finally received it back from across the street today and it came back with a VF-35. A few of you hit the nail on the head! I would have loved to see an EF, but I can live with the VF-35.

I was interested to see the amount of information on the label - especially the sede vacante recognition. They are really squeezing alot more info on these labels with the smaller font.
