At least this one was free. I think Shamrock's time has come and gone...Ortiz proved it again tonight.

I love Ortiz and he's been my favorite MMA fighter but I don't think he can beat Lidell. I think to beat Lidell you will need to catch him off-condition or submit him.
I think Lidell's takedown defense has improved dramatically since he got taken out by Horn and Randy Colture beat him because Lidell did not take him seriously. I'd like to see Ortiz work on take downs and submissions but if he goes toe-to-toe with Lidell, he's going down like last time.
It's a shame that Matt Hughes and Lidell can't fight - now that would be a fight!

tito will not beat chuck liddell.. not anytime soon anyway.. not in december.. tito doesnt need to work on takedowns, its his specialty.. that being said, liddell's takedown defense is too good for tito..
end result of decembers fight = Chuck Liddell by vicious eyeball removal.
LOL @ dbh acting like he knows MMA.. that being said, yes, right now some of the top talent is in Japan.. heavyweights in particular.. but i got a feeling DBH has most likely watched only a few PRIDE fights, which were probably heavily edited and aired on FSN..
In my opinion Ortiz vs. Hughes would be a better fight

I think Tito knows not to stand up with Chuck and this fight will end up on the ground with Tito on top dropping bows, they both can win but Tito's come along way and IMO the likely winner
this thread is very sherdogesque..
Someone says they prefer Pride over UFC and automatically you think they don't know anything and must only watch for the FSN highlights? Has it occurred to you that I wasn't even referring to the fighters themselves but to the rules of the organizations?
I'm not a fan of the UFC style ground and pound. I think when brought to extremes, it's very boring. I think when other fighters aren't showing any offense, they should be penalized severely. Simple enough for you?
Why don't you go back to lurking on Sherdog, suck up some more info there and try passing it off on your own to non-MMA hardcore types, you clown.

im guessing youre talking about Pride handing out yellow cards.. although you didnt specify that in your original post.. but even in Pride, there are moments of inactivity.. the best thing about Pride is that they allow soccer kicks to the head of a downed opponent.. they dont allow elbows like the UFC does.. different countries, different rules.. but ground & pound is not exclusive to UFC.. watch some more Pride fights and you'll realize that.. i dont mean just the better fights that they edit and choose to show on FSN..
and although UFC is "borderline unwatchable", what you really meant is "yes, i watched every minute of the Ortiz/Shamrock event last night"..
PA-The only reason I'm giving the win to Ortiz; he's been looking better and better and although Lidell is Lidell he's getting up to that age where a fighter like him comes to retirement. Truth is, "if" they were the same age I'd take Lidell over Ortiz every day of the week. Just like I'd take Shamrock over Ortiz every day of the week. But, the match I want to see is Lidell Vs. Silva. That ought to be very fun to watch, especially as I see it being a standup contest def ending in a knockout.

Look, I like Tito Ortiz. When he fights I root for him. But he can't beat Chuck Liddell.

Why should I have to specify anything in my original post? I said I preferred Pride over UFC. In your zest to show everyone what a MMA expert you think you are, you wound up getting caught in a triangle.
And for the record, I didn't even bother watching the Ortiz/Shamrock fight (I knew they'd be fighting but didn't care enough to find out the date/time to TiVo it because the last one was such a mismatch).

Takedowns are his specialty??? Tito has one takedown - bearhug and slam, that's not a specialty. If he tries that on lidell he is going to wake up in the hospital

yes, takedowns are his specialty.. he's a ground & pound fighter.. his base is wrestling, aka takedowns..
