I am collecting the set in PSA 9 (aside from SPs in 8) and it's been fun. I can only imagine how difficult the autographs makes these to find!

Is this RRodriquez that was discussed on Net 54 a year or so ago? Same ebay id. Might want to give it further investigation before bidding.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
Edited to add Clemente GV184496 and Farrell GV184502
This set is one of the perfect media's for autographs as far as baseball cards go.
25 or so of the autographs are reasonably easy to obtain and not pricey at all.
Some of the living HOF greats like Aaron, F. Robinson, Gibson and Mays & Koufax are expensive or in turn now charge a lot at shows to autograph an item.
The Mantle is plentiful but is expensive because; well simply, it's Mantle.
The tough part about this set or any other vintage autograph set is collecting the cards of any of the deceased players.
As noted in the auction, the toughest card and the key to completing the set based on rarity and desirability is the Clemente. You almost never see it offered and you will go for a lung and a kidney to buy it.
Farrell is ackowledged to be the second toughest.
Others on the tough list are N.Fox, Ken Boyer and Vada Pinson (Looking for all 5 of the above, still, myself).
If anyone is interested in selling any autograph cards from this set that I need, I would be a buyer.
Thanks.

Any thoughts on the autographs that do not match the pictures are shown in the certs? Seems incredible to me to have such disparities on the toughest cards in the set. I would never bid on any set that had that disparity.
<< <i>The GAI certs DO match. The problem is the PSA/DNA cert is definately not the same card as the one pictured with the GAI cert, and he claims that GAI AND PSA certified the same card. I guess he erased "Best wishes" after GAI and before PSA certified it......... >>
You're missing my point.
The GAI cert. for the Dick Farrell card shows a picture of a Dick Farrell autographed 1964 Topps Giants card, with no inscription.
The 1964 Topps Giant card that is pictured in the auction has "Best Wishes, Dick Farrell". I'm not saying that the certification is invalid. I'm saying without a doubt that the Dick Farrell autographed card in the auction is not the same one that was authenticated by GAI.
BEWARE
That Farrell error does raise some eyebrows of curiosity does'nt it. Those are definitely two different cards. They may both be legit, but the cert is referring to a different card than the one shown in the full size scan. Maybe with chatter and buzz a clarification will be forthcoming.
.
For the record; I won't be chasing this auction at all. I hope to get down to the last few cards on a budget. Then I'll worry about Clemente and Farrell.
A Clemente card with unquestionable provenance would drive the set, without a doubt.
I dont know much about the seller but I hope for all concerned that this turns out well.

The LOA Clemente has the names stacked.
As with the Farrell, these are two different cards.
Oops. The card pictured shows "best wishes" and the PSA/DNA cert is just plain Dick Farrell...
<< <i>With all of the problems on only the two cards in question (different cards, different certs etc etc), should be interesting how the rest of them pan out (Fox, Boyer, Pinson, Mantle). Should check out his Foxx ball also. That thing has more red flags than these cards do...... >>
Not to mention that the two cards in question are two of the toughest cards to complete from this set. I mean, although I do know a few people that have spent years and tons of money putting together this set, I certainly don't know anyone who is sitting on "extras" in terms of autographed Clemente and Farrells....
