Mantle auto card being passed as authentic

New to ebay reporting or contacting bidders...what can be done about this? Tried contacting high bidder, but ebay blocked my message since I am not in a transaction with this person.

Mantle Auto card on ebay

and did PSA slab these earlier in the day, or is this a custom/home job?
I collect Seattle Pilots autographs, 1969 Topps autographs, Signed Mickey Mantle Home Run History cards and have a JC Martin collection (he was my college Baseball coach)

The seller has always been reliable in my dealings with them.

Why would PSA slab a card that was "questionable?"

The siggy is pretty close, also.

Looks like it may have been popped open too - bottom right has been tampered with.

  • why does it not say anything on the flip about psa/dna, if that is what it says in the psa database?

The frost might just be a drop or torque hurt.

I know the sellers and the chances that they
would do that are zero, IMO.

The card could have been holdered in error.

  • Darren is definately a class act. Maybe the card was consigned or like a lot of others have said, holdered by accident. With all the mechanical errors lately, this certainly wouldnt suprise me....

however the card became holdered is not really the issue...

the auction listing states it is an authentic autographed card by mantle...when the flip clearly says ?Authtct

That I dont like either, over sight or not...........

They use a group of standard templates for
all of the listings. The only unique entries are the
titles and the one or two line description.

If a helper is doing data entry, they probably only
type in what is written on the instructions, and
load the picture address in TL.

The seller has been notified and when he gets
the messages, he will take the appropriate action.

Nobody is going to get ripped off on this one.

No....it has not been popped open. It's legit, I've cracked enough of them to know. chaz
  • I sent the seller a message about it and got no reply which I also don't care for. I have had one transaction with them and it went fine but this is an error that needs to be fixed asap.

"I sent the seller a message about it and got no reply........."

    //////////////////////////////////////////

Since several of his customers have emailed him and
gotten no reply, I can only suspect that he is away from
    his business/computer.

He has, in the past, always responded fairly quickly.

It is amazing how many experienced buyers
    are bidding on the card.

Does that mean that one picture is NOT
    worth 1,000 words?

Its not authentic, read any bood on how to recognize a fake sig, it has all the signs to look for, look how the I is dotted the swoops in the M's. Just really look at it closely and you'll see what im saying.

Collect raw morgans, walkers, mercs, SLQ, barber q. Looking at getting into earlier date coins pre 1900s.

I still cannot believe that nobody is looking at the
    question mark on the flip.

Maybe the seller is out of town, because he has
not replied to anybody who warned him about
    the error.

    It is a mystery.

I had that on my watch list and did not notice it. Anyone ever figure out the deal here? Shouldn't it be in a card saver with the flip stuck down in it?

Based on the tiny sale price, I think most folks
    noticed the flip.

Still have not heard back from the seller.

He told me he bought it to get it off the market and he was going to take it up with PSA.

Exactly. How this card made it out the door of PSA is well beyond me, but I figured it was better to buy it and get it out of circulation, then let PSA deal with it. From the Certification database itself, it states:

According to the PSA Certification Database, certification number 07172410 is defined as the following:

Looks pretty well holdered to me!

Just to update: the seller refunded my $, stating that the card was holdered in error. I'm bummed, as I had been planning on making T-Shirts of it to hand out to people, then put it in a see-through pouch and hang it around my neck like one of Flavor Flav's clocks to every hobby event I attend.
