first impressions may not be what they seem....

Ever have a first impression regarding your dealings with another collector or board member that later turned out to be way off? Well I went out on a limb and decided to find out if my first impression of a collector/member was accurate. Previous contact with this individual did not go so well....in fact it was quite bad or so it seemed.

I decided to send an e-mail to this individual (Brian D. aka 'MARZ')..... I made it clear that I was sorry for any part I had in our prior communications going south and wanted to put it behind us. I offered a trade for several cards that he had that would upgrade my set for several cards I had that would upgrade his set. I didn't expect a positive response considering some of our initial dealings. I was pleasantly surprised as he was quite receptive to my offer to put the past behind us and make a trade. Negotiations were discussed and a deal struck.

It was clear my first impression was considerably off the mark. I've found Brian to be a trustworthy and honest individual who enjoys collecting cards/coins. A guy devoted to his family and his career with a sense of humor.

Glad things worked out - it's amazing how mutual benefits can override previous bad blood.

The internet is such where many times we write in short and abbreviated sentences where our "meaning" does not always get through and can be misinterpreted.

  • Very true..... It is much easier to type many things we would never think to speak in a face to face conversation......and much we say can balloon into far more than was originally intended.

Another lesson learned in respect for others.....I should not have included the users name in this thread..... It appears at times when we mean well......our lack of perfection shines bright.......... for that I am truely sorry as well...... image
